Unesco has acknowledged the women weavers of Sumba as a national treasure.

Sumba Ikat Textiles are famous for their rich colours unique designs and expressions on the faces of people and animals.

The technique of tying the threads then the multiple dying and retying followed by friendly weaving in the cloth is time consuming and complicated. A natural dyed textile will take 14-18 months to complete. Royal family textiles can take up to several years to complete
